Welcome to Eclipse Living Essence Aromatherapy Centre

A Brief look at Eclipse Living Essence Aromatherapy Centre

Welcome to Eclipse Living Essence Aromatherapy Centre, while you may have only just discovered Eclipse, we have been in business since 1995.  Initially Eclipse concentrated on importing therapeutic grade essential oils and aromatherapy products, while writing and delivering interest courses at TAFE.  The training has been in such demand that in 1998 Joanne Lang the Principal and founder of Eclipse wrote a professional Diploma of Aromatherapy.  This was accredited by The International Federation of Aromatherapists (IFA).  In 1999 Eclipse gained Government accreditation for all courses offered and became a Registered Training Organization.

Why Study at Eclipse

Our classes are interactive & skills based.  Students don’t just receive lectures on the individual oils and treatments, they receive hands on experience of preparing massage blends, making luxury natural perfumes and numerous natural skin care products including ;-  various balms, ointments lotions, serums and other aromatic products such as deodorant, toothpaste etc (see the individual units for more details).  At Eclipse we believe that the best way to learn about aromatherapy and specifically essential oils is to use them, so we provide lots of products which students take home to use on themselves, their friends and family (ALL included in the cost of the training)

Specialised Aromatherapy Training

Once you have inspected the units of competency which combine to make up the Eclipse Diploma of Aromatherapy, you may notice that this Diploma offers are wide range of specific aromatherapy skills and knowledge. The Specialist Units of Competency were  developed over a 5 year period, by a dedicated group of IFA accredited course owners, IFA lecturers and practitioners, a group of highly knowledgeable and experienced members of the Aromatherapy Industry, a group who have many many years of experience in running an aromatherapy practice & providing aromatherapy  training.

New Aromatherapy Training Package HLT51407

In 2008 Eclipse has adopted the new health training package HLT51407 this includes a number of new units which have been incorporated into the Diploma, So you can be assured that the training provided at Eclipse  is contemporary and will empower you with industry specific knowledge and skills required to perform competently as a professional aromatherapist. Joanne Lang the principal of Eclipse  has been an active contributor to the IFA competencies and has over 13 years experience of  aromatherapy training and over 16 years as an  aromatherapy practitioner.

Become an Internationally Recognised Clinical Aromatherapist

On successful completion of this course the student will receive a Government Accredited Diploma Of Aromatherapy and call themselves a Clinical Aromatherapist.  If the successful student chooses, they may also join the International Federation of Aromatherapist & The Australian Traditional  Medicine Society and may use the letters MIFA or ATMS after their name.  The Diploma is aimed at students who wish to work professionally within the aromatherapy industry.

Class attendance Correspondence Combination of both

The Diploma of aromatherapy consists of 13 Units, which are offered as either class-based learning or can be completed via correspondence or a combination of both.  Eclipse Living Essence is a small-specialized school of aromatherapy and guarantees that each student will be treated as an individual. Being a small school, we have more flexibility than some of the bigger  schools and encourage you to become an active member of the group.  So if you enroll at Eclipse you can be sure that you will receive training that is empowering and evidence based.  On completion of the Diploma you will have received practical and theoretical experience of  100s of essential oils and aromatherapy products ensuring that you are competent to use and assess quality products  (this is a must as the market is flooded with poor quality and synthetic products unsuitable for use in natural therapy).

Learning aids for Correspondence students

All units of the Diploma can be studied via correspondence, Eclipse make use of DVDs & course notes and materials to provide correspondence students with the means to enjoy much of the practical side of this course.  Students wishing to study via correspondence will need to have access to a DVD player.  Correspondence students receive materials to enable them to complete the practical skills Eclipse also offer kits for various units, it is recommended that correspondent students purchase them to assist with learning.

Text books & materials required for study

The School supplies all consumables used in class at no extra cost to the student.  Students are required to supply own Linen, for hygiene purposes.  Students require a set of nappies or similar as well as a minimum of 2 large bath sheets, 2 flannels and a bowl with lid  (for facials). It is strongly recommended that students have access to a massage table throughout their training, to enable them to practice the massage skills effectively outside class hours.  Students will be required to purchase " The Basic Chemistry of Aromatherapeutic Essential Oils, second edition. By E. Joy Bowles - available at Eclipse, Students are provided with extensive course notes throughout the course so will not need to purchase any further aromatherapy books to complete study.  Essential oil kits are offered at a discounted rate to students, these are strongly recommended especially for correspondence students.  Students will need to purchase a good quality Anatomy & Physiology text book, we recommend Tortora & Grabansky “The  Principles of Human Anatomy”
